Instructor Ratings

Instructors can have a number of different ratings, each giving them additional instructional privileges. The table below details what each abbreviation signifies.

Ground and Flight Instruction
CFI	Ground and flight instruction toward a single-engine private, commercial, recreational, or sport pilot certificate and single-engine flight reviews.
CFII	Ground and flight instruction toward an instrument rating and instrument proficiency checks.
MEI	Ground and flight instruction toward a multi-engine private or commercial certificate and multi-engine flight reviews.
Ground Instruction Only
BGI	Ground instruction toward a recreational or private pilot certificate or flight review.
AGI	Ground instruction toward any certificate, rating, or flight review.
IGI	Ground instruction toward an instrument rating or instrument proficiency check.
